On Friday, April 12 at approximately 12:25 p.m., the New Castle Police Department said it was notified by Chappaqua Central School District Administration that a student reported seeing the armed man in the school.

As per the District policy, Robert Bell Middle School was put in lockdown.

New Castle Police officers responded and thoroughly searched the interior and exterior of the building. The search came up negative for anyone matching the description provided by the student or anyone that was not authorized to be in the school, police said.

After the building was cleared, the lockdown was lifted and normal school activities resumed.
